Canada
In Canada, marijuana was legalized for recreational use in October 2018. The country became the second in the world, after Uruguay, to fully legalize the drug.
Uruguay
Uruguay was the first country in the world to legalize marijuana for recreational use in 2013. The government tightly regulates the production, distribution, and sale of marijuana in the country.
Netherlands
In the Netherlands, marijuana is technically illegal, but it is tolerated and sold in “coffee shops” under certain conditions. The country has a long-standing reputation for its liberal drug policies.
Portugal
In Portugal, marijuana is decriminalized for personal use. This means that while it is still illegal, individuals caught with small amounts of the drug are not subject to criminal charges. Instead, they may face fines or mandatory treatment programs.
